Department of Civil Engineering has started Post Graduate (P G) Program in M.Tech (structures) during the academic year 2003-2004, which is approved by AICTE and is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Karnataka. This programme is of four semesters (two year) duration. In this period, students acquire the in-depth knowledge in structural engineering though the rigorous, brain storming teaching-learning process. In addition, the students will be encouraged and motivated to learn the art of effective dissemination of knowledge through seminars and technical paper publications. They are even trained to carryout good project work/dissertation, so that in future, they are enabled to shoulder the responsibility of performing, managing any project efficiently. The special feature of the programme is to develop aspirant students as self-pride, confident, efficient professionals/entrepreneurs/consultants. During the course, students will have one semester internship programme ( in 3rd semester) and our department center provides facilities for internship recruitments from major companies. Most of the students have bagged internship in very reputed companies and they offered placement in the same.


An independent laboratory is provided for PG with 3 loading frames of different capacities for testing structural elements/systems. Two class rooms with department library are provided. Most of the staff members involved in PG course are having doctoral degree.

P G Program in M.Tech (structures) is coordinated by Dr. RAVINDRA P M. He obtained his B.E. degree in Civil Engineering from Govt. B.D.T. College of Engineering, Davanagere with distinction. During his final year UG programme he qualified in GATE and after completion of B.E, he joined for M.E. degree in Structural Engineering at Faculty of Engineering-Civil, UVCE, Bangalore and obtained degree with distinction. Later he has been awarded with Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Bangalore University. He is in teaching for the last 29 years, guided many students for carrying out B.E projects and M.Tech dissertation works. For his credit, he is having many publications in international journals as well as in national/international conferences apart from participation in Short Term Courses/Workshops/Seminars. Dr. Ravindra P M is having exposure towards various computer languages and also able to analyse and design the structures using many FEM based Structural Engineering softwares. Currently his research interests are in the field probability and fuzzy based reliability analysis, post tensioning, bridges, dynamic analysis and innovative/alternative materials in the production of concrete. He is Member of Institute of Engineers (India), Chartered Engineer (India), Indian Society for Technical Education and Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India).
